At work, so many annoying things occur during our shifts. There are too many to name right off the bat but every week I’m going to do a Pet Peeve segment on other employees at different stores to see if they have the same reaction as my co-workers and I do.
Taking to the item
9/10/09 -1:45pm – (Undisclosed store) – Beaverton, Oregon
This afternoon, I went to Beaverton to have lunch with a good friend of mine. He’s such a good friend that he’s always late, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, he’s late. Anyhow as I was waiting, there was a (undisclosed store) next door to the place where we’re meeting. It might be a good idea to kill some time and do a little observation as I walk to the electronic section. As I stepped one foot into the video game area, BAM! I was greeted immediately by a tall guy with a genuine smile:
Tall Guy – “Hey, finding everything alright?”
Me – “No, where’s the baby food?”
Knowing fully well that it was clear on the other side of the store.
Tall Guy – “Umm.. its on aisle #3, would you like me to show you?”
Me – “Yes!”
I waited for him to do the predictable, he rolled his eyes. He walked me to the baby food and then asked me if I need anything else, I told him I was good and he marched back to his department.
Was I a jerk? No… I just asked him for help while he was doing his daily tasks. It was an inconvenience for him but he continued to provide me with the service I was satisfied with. As a customer, that man is a definite customer service professional.
