Finally back from Vacation! Did you miss me? I got the opportunity to travel to Cancun, Mexico and it was such an amazing experience. I never knew the Caribbean Sea was the color of greenish blue. I mean, I’ve seen it in the movies, pictures, and postcards but to see the ocean in person is exhilarating. I thought to myself, “Wow! That’s pretty, I’m going to go play in it!” I jumped head first into the water, “Argh! Salt! Too Salty!” Definitely swallowed way too much salt water for my own good that I think I now have enough sodium for several months. Myself being a weak swimmer had to be an hilarious sight for the other beach goers as they watched me get pummeled by the waves.
I also went to the grocery store in Mexico. Yep that’s right global style. Well it was giant grocery store,
Super Walmart. They’re very commercialized over there. Everyone was nice and checkout was eerily similar to that in the states, very long lines. A checker would open a new line and would grab the last person standing in line of course but hey who’s arguing we’re on vacation and we’d rather be inside with the air conditioner than be outside with the sun beating down on you.
I stayed at the Westin Resort & Spa and I cannot say enough on how well they treat their guests. They go out of their way to please each guest and by the 3rd day they already knew my name. Each time I asked for directions or recommendations for places to go, they were prompt and sometimes offered to take me there. They only thing about that was every time I’d asked for something I always felt obligated to tip them. It’s like a secret head nod.
The first time I wondered why the concierge kept nodding his head after saying “Your welcome.” Then after talking to a few more I noticed they all did it and when they did, I tipped. Now imagine that kind of service in the states, I’m sure every grocery clerk would fight each other just to serve their customer just for a tip. “Are you finding everything alright?” [insert head nod...]
