Ask a Grocery Clerk

by PkWynn on June 14, 2010

Question: When the sign says, “Buy one get one free” if I wanted only one can I get one for half price? I had a grocery clerk refuse to do that for me.

Answer: In our store it only applies to certain items such as perishables but to all other goods you must get the other for that price. Our company does not permit us to alter pricing on products because the item is already on a promotion.

Question: If the the sign says, “buy 10 for $10″ do I have to buy all 10?

Answer: 10 for $10 is just a clever promotion for customers. You can buy one or as many as you like for that price.

Haha…it’s so funny how people think they can make their own price! …going to the grocery store almost sounds like a gameshow! Like….”name your price!”

Hi, I just stumbled upon this blog, and almost peed my pants with joy. My fiance and I both work at a grocery store (he’s been chained to them for the last 8 years, I’m only in for 3 so far) so we TOTALLY understand your pain. We’re also Oregonians! (Me full flege, he’s originally from CA) Can’t wait to read some more!

I get yelled at all the time when people discover they can’t get certain items at half price. The signs are there for a reason, people!

Loving your site, by the way. :-)
